Reindeer Cake Pop Bokeh

I'm linking up to the Holiday Bokeh Party at I Heart Faces. This was a fun challenge for me. I had never taken any Christmas light bokeh pictures before. I think that the reindeer pops look pretty cute with the colored lights in the background.

Click it Up a Notch- October Picture Share

My favorite picture from October was actually taken yesterday while we were at Ellms Farm enjoying some outdoor time before the snow started to fall at their corn maze and pumpkin patch.

Pinterest Challenge Cupcakes

Happy Halloween everyone!

The Pinterest Challenge is back! Just in time too since I volunteered to make cupcakes for Sophie's Halloween party at school. I've been eyeing (haha!) these owl cupcakes ever since they first started popping up on Pinterest.

Aren't they adorable? They were very easy to make too which was an added bonus. I used a box mix and canned frosting, but I'm sure they would be much better from scratch. I didn't have the time so I had Betty Crocker help me out. I baked the cupcakes and let them cool. While the cupcakes were cooling, I sliced the Oreos apart with a sharp knife. I found that I couldn't twist them apart or I wouldn't get all of the frosting on one side. I loved how this version of the owl cupcake had eyebrows. I tried to cut the cookie part of the Oreos for the eyebrows, but they ended up braking instead of cutting. I found that if I scored them several times they broke where I wanted them to better.

After all the Oreo slicing, scoring, frosting, and finger licking. My owls turned out like this.

Not too shabby! I had a bunch of left over Oreo parts so I crushed them up and added some Peeps ghosts. What do you think?

Here they are all together.

Thanks Katie, Sherry, Ana and Erin for hosting this challenge! Hop on over to their sites to see all the other creative Pinterest projects that were linked to in this challenge.

Favorites

Click it up a Notch is hosting a giveaway for people that post their five favorite photos of their child from July through September. Here are my top five of Sophie:

This was from our trip to see Chris, Beth, and the kid's new house in New Hampshire.

I liked this one because it looks like Sophie did all that writing on the driveway.

Sophie on the swing. Her favorite thing at the playground.

Enjoying an apple at the orchard.

I loved this red barn and stack of hay. I had to get a picture of Sophie on it.

Shutterfly Card

I'm loving this picture of Sophie. I ordered a cute fall card from Shutterfly for my mom with it too. Isn't it cute?

Joining in on Project 52

I've decided to join in on MCP Actions Project 52. Every week there is a different theme posted and participants submit photos related to that theme. This weeks theme is “It’s in the Eyes.” My submission is the picture I took of Sophie last weekend when we went apple picking.

Pinterest Challenge

A few of my favorite bloggers, Katie, Sherry, Emily, and Lana got together and created a Pinterest Challenge.

They did a great job on their projects. You should check out Katie's shim mirror, Sherry and John's clothes pin pendant lamp, Emily's nailhead closet doors, and Lana's chalkboard fridge.

Lucky for me, I just completed one of my favorite finds on Pinterest this past weekend so I get to join in on the link up fun.

Here is the inspiration and instructions that I used to make my large starburst mirror.

Beautiful isn't it?

I followed Cassie's instructions for the most part. I wanted to hang this above our bed in the master bedroom so I decided to switch it up a little by staining the shims. I also didn't want to spend $20 on the mirror so I just went with a 14" beveled mirror that I found a Hobby Lobby for $5 with a coupon.

A little staining tip for anyone wanting to do a DIY staining project themselves...vegetable oil takes stain off of skin. I somehow managed to get stain all over me and the vegetable oil worked like a charm.

Here's my beauty.  She's a big one too. I wasn't sure if she'd fit above the bed, but she did (just barely).

Thanks Katie, Sherry, Emily and Lana for hosting this challenge! I'm already looking forward to the next one.
